Environment and health

KRAV-labelled food is produced without artificial chemical pesticides and artificial fertilisers. KRAV certification includes requirements designed to support biodiversity and responsible soil management.

Biodiversity

One of the aims of the KRAV Standards is to support biodiversity. KRAV-certified farms are not allowed to use synthetic chemical pesticides and must comply with requirements designed to promote habitats for plants and pollinators.

Climate impact

KRAV certification includes climate-related requirements. These include the use of electricity from renewable energy sources and farming practices such as cultivating grass and clover in livestock systems.

Animal welfare

KRAV-certified farms must meet animal welfare requirements that take animals’ natural behaviours and needs into account. The standards include rules on outdoor access, grazing and species-appropriate feed.

Better working conditions

KRAV-certified companies must comply with requirements on working conditions and workers’ rights, based on internationally recognised human rights principles and core ILO conventions.
