KRAV standards

KRAV has adapted the standards to IFOAM Basic Standards. The KRAV standards also fulfil the EU standards for organic production in the regulations (EC) No 834/2007, (EC) No 889/2008 and (EC) No 967/2008. In some cases the KRAV standards are stricter than the EU standards. The KRAV standards encompass more areas, such as certification of restaurants and industrial kitchens, fishing, and textiles.

KRAV’s work to improve standards is an ongoing process and standard changes will be published at least two times per year on KRAV’s website.

Production certified according to other organic standards is regulated in chapter 16 in the KRAV standards. You have the possibility to KRAV-label products or use primary products as ingredients in KRAV-certified production if your production already is certified according to other organic standards and if the requirements in chapter 16 are fulfilled.

What’s most important is that the standards used shall be IFOAM -accredited or recognised according to (EC) No 834/2007.  The production also has to fulfil some additional requirements. For example there are additional requirements for social justice. You can read about the social requirements in "The letter about the importance of social justice" (to the right). To the right you also find a list of programs whose standards fulfil KRAV standards concerning Social justice.

To obtain the KRAV-label a company need to be license-holder. To the left you find more about that.
