Stricter standards on import and bringing in greenhouse products
The standards regarding obtaining the KRAV label for import and bringing in products have been tightened in the 2011 version of KRAV Standards in order for KRAV-certified production to provide important value added.
In most cases, those currently certified will be allowed to continue to follow Chapter 16 in the July 2010 version until 31 December 2011. However, the following regulations must be observed from 1 January 2011.
If seedlings or sprouts are imported, these must be germinated from organic seed.
If greenhouse products grown in heated greenhouses are imported, one of the following options applies: Total energy used for heating, lighting in cooling areas as well as production of CO2 must on an annual basis be 80% supplied by non-fossil fuels or waste heat. Alternatively, fossil energy can make up at most 2.5 kWh/m2 and production week during the culture period.
